This is one I have conflicting views about. To be honest, some businesses don’t even NEED a website. That isn’t to say I don’t think they should have one, but they’re doing just fine. I have a friend who is a sales and communication coach. He gets his leads from referrals, doing keynote presentations, and by people listening in on his conversations at coffee shops. He doesn’t need a website. Do I believe a website could serve him? Yes.
For those businesses that have a good website, it most likely isn’t enough because your website isn’t doing anything for you. Maybe you aren’t sending traffic to it or it isn’t set up to generate leads. A pretty website and a functional website are too different animals. It is important to make sure your website can and will generate leads for you and to have supplementary marketing components in place like social media marketing.
